There is a whole host of trips and tours available in Tenerife. One of the more popular boat excursion is to see the Whales and Dolphins in there natural habitat. The sea off the south coast of Tenerife is a feeding ground for the pilot whale, so you’re sure too them if you venture out there.

You can take half/full day tours around the island to visit many of the sights and attractions. A visit to Mount Teide (the highest point in Spain at 12,000 feet) is recommended as on a clear day as you can see the other six islands in the Canaries, but not recommended for people with breathing problems. Even if you don’t go up in the cable car the views are spectacular, as are the views on the way up the mountain and again on the way down.

Many tourist opt for an excursion to the area of Puerto del a Cruz with its stunning architecture is a mixture of the old and the new and is worth a visit if you want to do some shopping. You can take a trip to the area of Martinez which is a popular resort area in its own right and swim in the huge open air swimming pool. If you are in that area, it is worth checking out the Botanical Gardens, which are only a stones throw away.

One of the most popular attractions on the island is the Loro Parque. If you are into animals or conservation then this theme park with its numerous animals and attractions is an essential excursion. The park is founded on the principles of conservation and supports a whole host of animals for which it has a breeding program. You can enjoy many attractions at Loro Parque including the sea lion show, dolphin show and new to the park is the killer whale show.

On many excursions around the island you will pass through and often stop at untold villages that haven’t been spoiled by tourism, where you can mingle with the locals and see the real Canarian people at work and play. You can visit Santa Cruz with all its seafaring history and many shops. This is also where the second largest carnival in the world takes place every year in February. Another popular area to visit is los Gigantes, where you will find some of the largest cliffs in Europe. You will also find a marina here, where a number of boat excursions can be booked. All in all in terms of excursions and attractions, Tenerife has a lot to offer and is sure to keep even the most active of tourists busy.
