When it comes to entertainment, the island of Tenerife leaves you spoiled for choice. From karaoke to opera, Spanish dancing to pirate spectaculars, every type of entertainment you can think of is offered. There are plenty of show bars with live acts nightly, very often show casing two or more acts. Tribute bands seem to be the in thing at the moment and are of a high standard, so if you fancy a night with Elvis or your favourite star, Tenerife has it covered. If jazz or blues is your bag, then no problem, that’s covered too. If you’re not sure what style of entertainment you want, just stroll along any street and listen for the music and follow your ears. If you want to go to the opera, then. the capital Santa Cruz will be your destination. The capital also plays host to the second biggest carnival in the world, in February of every year. This event lasts for one week and is attended by people from all over the world, with world renowned stars performing nightly. There are club tents where you can dance the night away, or shows put on nightly. Every year the carnival has a different theme and whilst fancy dress isn’t compulsory, you’ll feel out of place if you don’t make the effort. Through out the year the island's villages and resorts have a fiesta (community party) at some time or another, where fireworks usually finish the party in spectacular style.
