Playa de las Americas In General
Playa de las Americas, or Beach of the Americas as is its translation from its native Spanish, was one of the original
resorts to be developed in the south of Tenerife, and due to its location it benefits from excellent weather. The area has recently
been modernized, where Arona town council have pedestrianised many of the roads though out. The area is a popular destination for the
Brits and the nightlife tends to cater more for the younger club going generation. That said, there are still lots of things for people of
all ages to see and do as the area has wonderful sandy beaches, restaurants, shops and pubs. If you like to go on excursions
while on holiday, then you will be able to book yourself onto one of the many excursions and activities available through out
Tenerife from the Las Americas area.
Night Life
Night life in las Americas is aimed at the younger generation with its many
bars, pubs
and clubs open till the early hours. Two of the main
areas are Starco and Veronicas where the music in the clubs varies from Soul, RnB, House, Garage and Techno. Many of the clubs in
these areas fly in top DJ's from the UK during the summer season, so if you are into the club scene it is worth checking who is on
before booking your holiday in Las Americas.
Just a short walk towards los Cristianos is an area known as the Patch. This area is packed with shops, restaurants and bars
which are more centered on family based
entertainment.

Restaurants
The restaurants are more geared toward the English tourist, but if you look around you will find some excellent
international restaurants. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the Las Americas area, then there is plenty to
choose from the in the areas surrounding Playa de las Americas. Playa Fanabe and Los Cristianos a just a short taxi ride away
and there are areas such as the Patch within easy walking distance.
Beaches
You will find its sandy beaches are maintained to high level whilst also being protected from the rollers that sweep in as
the tide ebbs and flows. On the beaches you can see the brave surfers battling with the elements, as they ride the waves to
shore. You will also find a whole host of water sports from Jet Skiing to para-sailing. All of the beaches have lifeguard
stations and there is always a multitude of shops, restaurants
and amenities close to hand.
